Ring out the old, bring in the new.
Hello Zoneheads, and we say a farewell to 2006, and drag in 2007 from the cold.

But what has happened ?

Well, we shifted some Radio slots - Johnny Reece now with his regular Sunday night worldwide spot, and we convinced RTI that The Album Zone should have a weekend slot too... on Saturday evenings...

we gained an Album Zone myspace page...

we gained this very Blog you are reading right now...

due to kind listeners and supporters, we gained new Minidisc equipment...

from the same source, a new luxury studio chair (which now creaks, attractively)...

we found a Punkbaby...

we found a Pixie...

we found a Cupcake... (to be in your ears in 2007)...

we found Mr De Foyle (profile coming soon !)...

we lost Mr Burgess, on to other things...

we lost Mr Saloman (ah, but he'll be back, he always is)...

we gained, and lost, Ms Saloman (amazing debut Show, but work then took her elsewhere)...

we lost Mr Barclay (maybe to return, we'll beat him with sticks until he does)...

the Tall Cool One became a Dane...

we had a week of 'Live' worldwide broadcasts from Slovakia... (more to come in 2007 !!!)

we had a fortnight of wonderful travel tales from the USA, courtesy of Mr Reece...

and so on...

We await with anticipation, what 2007 will bring us. Hope it's good !

Tornados, Christmas, and Playlists

A fine weekend to you all...

What's all this about a Tornado in London ? I thought they were joking at first, but no, a phenomenon certainly not native to this part of the world swept through a part of North London just 2 days ago. Oh sure, it was just a little one, burned out in 20 to 30 seconds, but during that time, left many people injured (thankfully no fatalities), and about 100 families homeless, with devastation everywhere, homes and cars destroyed, debris littering the streets. How strange, mid morning, all went black apparently, and it happened - then it was gone.

Christmas - ah, the politically correct (that should be incorrect !) are at it again. Johnny touches on this, rather angrily, on his programme tonight. A bunch of people apparently want to ban Xmas trees and decorations, because it 'isolates certain cultures'. Ahem.
Idiots.
You know, I heard there are plans to have a colony on the moon, soon - perhaps these sort of people are the ones we can send there first, yes ? And leave them to rot.

Talking of Xmas... plans afoot to do a one-off 'Live' Programme, to be Broadcast via Live365, over the holiday period, from AZ Towers, hosted by Johnny Reece...
Watch this space...

On to Pod 1 and its problems - just being sorted today, 10th December, at last. We have a lot to catch up on this one, with new shows from Katrine, Johnny Reece, and Gil Legine all to go up there, so give us a couple of days. Full update here when we have the Pod playlist exactly how we want it.

On to tonight, and the Johnny Reece Show (including his barbed comments about political correctness) hits your ears at just after 8pm, 20.00 hours, (UK time) tonight. That's via www.rti.fm, and also on Sky 0195. Be there !

Technology will decide...

Hello Zoneheads,
it's a waiting game...

Thanks to the regular listeners who have contacted us in the last 2 to 3 days, to say things like 'what's going on with the Pods' ????
We've been on to the Masters Of the Pods and have discovered they have been beset with all sorts of technological problems, which first affected our Pod 1, then Pod 2, and now both (along with thousands of others, of course - but it's our Pods we are worried about !).

So, here's the situation.

Pod 1 - still there, running nicely - except for the fact that we have 3 brand new AZ Shows to upload to it, and it won't let us put them up there. Grrr......
Newies from the Swedelicious Katrine, Gil Legine, and Johnny Reece are all sitting here, loaded, ready to rock...
As soon as the technological powers that be fix it - they all will be there, we assure you !
It's a bit out of our hands at the moment - and we did receive the usual answer - '24 to 48 hours' being the estimated time of sorting this out.

See ? Technology is great when it works... and so frustrating when it doesn't.

Now, Pod 2 - beset with its own problems, so, as from today, it will have a brand new URL.

Pod 2 will now be at : http://www.4shared.com/dir/1404061/8fc46366/sharing.html

Ah, but what will be on it ?
The brand new show from Punkbaby Zoe, that's what (hey, that's Mrs Howe to you, ok ?).
Check later today - 30th November - and treat your ears...

Meanwhile, as soon as the powers that be sort out Pod 1 - I will post the news right here... and also on our new myspace page, at http://www.myspace.com/albumzone

As for this weekend via RTI, Johnny Reece will be in his usual Sunday spot, and the Saturday spot this week features Rich Phoenix.
Playlists for both these Programmes will be posted here, on Saturday afternoon.

Speak soon, mes ami...

Plethora !!!

Plethora !
I use the word as it is one of Johnny Reece's favourites.
He once said he liked it so much that he would try to get it into conversation as many times as possible.
But why is it here ?

Well, a 'plethora' of new Programmes to tell you about, just for starters.
Firstly, on RTI tonight - www.rti.fm (just after 21.00 hours, UK time) and at the same time on Sky 0195, we have the second AZ Show from 'new boy' Barry De Foyle. Yes, we know, you've heard the third one already, but not the second one. There is a very good reason for this, and we wish we knew what it was.

Today and tomorrow, it's Pod Frenzy - oh yes !
The second Show from the previously mentioned BDF is up there right now, along with the brand new Show from Andy Miles (also to be broadcast on RTI in 3 weeks time).
This, you should know, is Andy's 139th recorded Show for The Album Zone.
Really. Add on all the 'live' ones over the years, and it adds up to quite a few.
We had better not start calling him a 'veteran' though, as he might be upset, and all future invites to the 'leafy glades' would be cancelled forthwith, so we're treading warily.

What else ? More newies ?

Oh, yes. The next Show from our man in NJ, Rich Phoenix, hits our Pod 1 tomorrow too, and it's nice to have him back.
And finally, great to have the 6th Show from our Pixie, Katrine - which also hits Pod 1 tomorrow.
If you haven't heard her 5th one - do it now ! - it's replaced by the 6th one, late tomorrow evening.

Pod 1 is at : http://www.4shared.com/dir/391612/be81ca22/sharing.html

Pod 2, meanwhile, containing Shows from the punklicious newly-wed Zoe, is at :
http://www.4shared.com/dir/970903/7dd676aa/sharing.html
And yes - more newies from Punkbaby shortly.

What else ?
Well, the latest Shows from Richard Bismarck and Gil Legine, are also on Pod 1.

The new Johnny Reece Show is too - and another newie to come tomorrow night !

And don't forget too - The brand new Johnny Reece Show - Sunday, just after 20.00 hrs (UK time), via our usual outlets, www.rti.fm, and Sky 0195.
Johnny broadcasts a brand new programme every Sunday evening.

Oh, and Gil Legines newie is up and coming for you, next week, on the Pod...

Whew !
Show frenzy !

The Scots and Northern Irish takeover...

So, Zoneheads, we go hurtling into a November weekend.
All fine and dandy in that world of yours ?
Here in deepest suburban nowhere, winter begins to crawl in un-noticed then snap at the toes. But, we have Album Zone Programmes to warm the cockles this weekend, as the Scots and Northern Irish make a stand.

Firstly, the Northen Irish connection - the 'new boy' if he doesn't mind me saying, as Barry De Foyle steps into the fray tonight at 21.00 hrs (UK time) for a couple of hours, via www.rti.fm, or, if you happen to have Sky Satellite, Channel 0195 right there too.

Tomorrow, Sunday, and the Scot marches in, as Johnny Reece takes his usual Sunday seat at 20.00 (UK time) in the same places, same frequencies, www.rti.fm and Sky 0195.
These Programmes are also on a host of European FM and AM frequencies too... but you all know that by now.

Funny, I spoke to Mr Reece earlier - and, this is something I maybe should not mention, but I'm going to anyway - he said 'wish I'd never recorded that Show'.
Hmmm.
Well, I've heard him say this before - but our Scotsman clearly isn't happy with it. I don't know why, and I beg to differ. 'It's too damn commercial - don't know where my mind was'... said he.
'Ok then, but why follow Pink Floyd with Kylie Minogue' ?, I asked.
'Because I can'. was the reply.
I guess you can't argue with that.

Barry De Foyle, in the meantime, continues to explore and invade his own Music collection, to bring you a few gems that maybe, just maybe, you may not have heard before.

Playlists for these Programmes ?
