Weekend Playlists, and Seagull changes...

Bonsoir Mes Ami, and here we are again with our regular weekend update. Firstly, changes afoot at Radio Seagull, as we told you previously. They are changing their schedule for a month, for the whole of July, and during this time there will be 4 (yes, Four !) Album Zone Shows per week, broadcast by our Dutch friends.
This all kicks off next week. Broadcast times are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Midnight (UK time) for a 2 hour Show, and an extra AZ Show on Saturdays at 21.00 hours. All UK time, so an hour later for Continental Europe, or 5 hours earlier for EST, and so on. These will all be programmes recently aired via our friends at RTI. Radio Seagull will decide in August, whether to keep this format. Web : www.radioseagull.com.
.
To this weekend, and it's our man in NJ, Rich Phoenix, doing his 'classic rock' thing on Saturday night, and Johnny Reece once again in his usual spot on Sunday too - with tales of his recent trips working abroad, mixed, he says, with a lot of croaking following a spectacular cold and bad throat this week. Achoo !!
Both shows, as you know, via RTI (www.rti.fm) and on Sky Satellite too.
Playlists a go-go !

Mr Biz on the Pod... and a Travelogue...

Thursday to Monday, it was. A time of chaotic, yet enjoyable travel. All to do with work, very little of it 'radio-based' this time, no, this was to do with what I jokingly call a 'real' job. Belgium was to be the first stop, and, after a bit of confusion with cross channel ferries with cancellations, on the road we went, through the northern tip of France, sharp right at Ostend in Belgium, and down to a delightful village in the middle of nowhere, south of Brussels, called Lessines. A great little town. Only a couple of hours there, but time enough, I'm glad to say, for a lightning quick visit afterwards to De Panne, a favourite haunt of many an AZ person, back in the days of our weekends away to Radio 6. I was shocked how quiet it seemed, approaching the high season.
To Friday, and Germany, and a small town called Lubeck, to be precise. Again, a very nice little town, 'the town of 7 spires' as I was told. Boat trips too, along to Travemunde, which is a superb little resort.
Across the water, was the 'former East', in the shape of a beautiful village called Priwall.
I even found a former guard hut hidden away on the beach, and decided to rename it 'Checkpoint Johnny'.
Well, I had to, didn't I ? Some images from that distant past were visible, if you looked hard enough, for the days when the country was split in two.
Further along, a former munitions factory left a spooky presence on the landscape on the riverbank, now lying derelict and empty. Fascinating sight.
The town of Kiel followed for the next days travel, where a major 'Sea Festival' was on, boats and ships of all makes, types and sizes in evidence, and a party atmosphere all along the quayside was evident too.
Just a block away, the Titanic exhibition, including artifacts and relics from the famous Ship, and a completely recreated Grand Staircase too. It was a nautical day, for sure.
Back to the UK, tired but happy, on Monday morning.
.
What's that ? Album Zone ? Oh yes, just to tell you too, that Richard Bismarck has returned to our Pod airwaves, as of today. All new AZ Shows are available, as a little present to your ears.
Our Pod : http://www.4shared.com/dir/391612/be81ca22/sharing.html
.
We'll speak again, at the weekend, with the playlists for the forthcoming AZ Shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend Playlists, and Pod action !

Hey, isn't this a bit early ?
Well, yes, but it's all because of work in foreign lands, beckoning for the AZ fraternity. Well, some of them.
So, it's Playlists a go-go, and details of new shows on our Pod too.
Firstly to the Pod, where our Pixie makes a welcome return. Her new show is on there right now, and also graces the airwaves of RTI this Saturday evening, too.
Gil Legine is back, and his newie, due for RTI airing in July, can now also be heard upfront on our Pod.
Add to this, current shows from the rest of the gang, and I think that's enough to keep you going.
The URL for the AZ Pod, as ever, you'll find at the top of this page.
.
Our intrepid sometime traveller, Mr Reece, sets out to foreign climes once again, in a matter of hours.
We have been asked if this is radio related - no, it's not - this is 'alleged real work', as he says. He will be taking in the delights of the likes of France, Belgium, Germany, and possibly more, on what can only be described as a whistle stop trip. Whether he gets to see much of those places remains to be seen, there's a lot of work to do. I'm sure he will regale us with tales and pictures on his return, next Monday.
.
Ah, to the weekend ! And here are those playlists...

Old, New, Borrowed and Strange

Hi Zoneheads,
and a-bounding into the weekend we go, with a new Blog, a new Playlist, a new Month upon us, oh, and a new Jacket.
The hunt for new, old, and strange musical offerings continues, as we dig deep into the murky depths of the cellar beneath AZ Towers, unearthing many, many goodies from the dim and distant past, hunt for newies in a host of locations, not least taking on board recommendations from some of our new found friends made through MySpace. This has particularly, perhaps more than anything else, brought in a whole wealth of new, different, and strange material.
All directed at your ears of course, alongside some established things to make those ears tingle.
That's what it is really all about - variation, and personal choice. How radio should be !
.
In recent times, 2 of our Presenters may have seemed to have disappeared into the ether, but not so, as in the next fortnight, newies from Rich Phoenix, and Cupcake, will appear on the Pod, later to be broadcast via our usual outlets around the world.
