Sundays Soiree
Well ding my thang, and put the kettle on. Again.
It's time (almost) for one of those musical soirees... 8pm tonight, if you will, thats UK time. The rest of you in other timezones will just have to work it out.
I'd say WWW.RTI.FM is the place to be at 20.00 therefore, or, for those of a Sky Satellite disposition, by all means point your ears in the direction of channel 0195 at 8pm.
Ok ?
I'll have a varied selection of nonsense for you this evening, such as superb new music from a French Band called The Teenagers, the brilliance of Eddie Cochran, the nostalgic-but-not-really-sound of The Bristols featuring Fabienne Delsol, a touch of Heather Nova, and oh, so much more...
Please make it if you can. I'll set a place at the table for you.
Otherwise, you can catch it on the Pod from late tonight, and I'll just serve you up any potatoes that may or may not be left over. Feast your ears.

Aural Weekend Delights !
Friday night, and here we are again. Thought we'd forgotten you ?
News of the weekends Album Zone Soirees to wing your way, and hopefully keep you on your toes too.
Ah, usual times, usual places.
Richard Bismarck is on the AZ airwaves, Saturday, at 9pm - and that's UK time.
He'll be in those ears of yours, via www.rti.fm, and on Satellite too, on Sky 0195.
Two hours of the choicest cuts, including The Kinks, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Broken Social Scene, and oh yes, Sir John Betjeman. Tune in !
And if you dare to miss it, it's on our Pod too...
.
Johnny Reece returns, on Sunday evening, in his usual 8pm slot, and once again, that's UK time.
It's around the planet via www.rti.fm, and Sky 0195, on Satellite.
Expect to hear The Tubes, The Teenagers, Heather Nova, John Cooper Clarke, Eddie Cochran, Sufjan Stevens, and much more. Be there !
This will also be on our Pod, by late on Sunday evening.
.
Keep listening !, and do keep those votes coming, via the www.rti.fm page - thank you !
.
Have a great weekend, and thanks, as ever, for your support.

Leafy Glades, Scotsmen, and Punkbabys
And a-hurtling into the weekend we go...
Hi Zoners, I hope all is good in your part of the planet.
.
Zone news to tell you about, with our usual weekend Programming being broadcast around the globe, on both Saturday and Sunday evening.
Saturday, 9pm it is (UK time) via www.rti.fm, and Andy Miles will be in the chair.
Not this chair, but his own chair.
Expect to hear the likes of Autograph, The Jayhawks, Tom Petty, The Wallflowers, and many more. Andy will be with you for 2 hours. Oh, and also via Sky 0195, if you don't mind.
.
Sunday, 8pm this time, same frequencies, and a bit of a first. The first joint venture across the microphones, from Reecey and Zoe. They had long talked about doing a co-hosted Programme, and here it is. Rumour is too, there's more to come ! It's around for your aural pleasure (don't you just love that phrase ?) via www.rti.fm, at 8pm, so, be there !
Oh, and I'm not giving away any secrets about the playlist for this one, either.
You'll have to tune in. Tales a-plenty, from first ever musical purchases, to adolescent dreamings, through to new discoveries.
Both of the weekends Programmes, are, naturally, already on our Pod.
.
We had long threatened, well, promised, the return of a former Presenter into the warm embrace of our bosom. Should that be bosoms ? No matter, we can now officially announce the return of Simon G to the Album Zone airwaves. His new opus is here at AZ Towers, ready to be unleashed upon you all. We'll put it up on the Pod next week, and broadcasts will follow via our usual outlets, in May 2008.
Welcome back Simon !
.
Forthcoming weeks will also see a brand new Programme from Rich Phoenix, and, naturally, another joint venture from Reecey and Zoe.
Oh, and all the usual suspects.
Thank you for being there !
.
Have a great weekend everyone,
.

Reecey and Zoe on the Air !
Welcome to the working week, as a bespectacled Mr Costello once said.
Here we are, with yet more Pod newies for you, and now, to sit alongside all the brand new AZ Shows on the only Pod that matters, is a bit of an exclusive.
.
Not due to be officially aired until next Sunday, you can wrap your ears around it right now...
.
It's the first of the 'Reecey and Zoe' specials, recorded right here at AZ Towers.
.
Go get it !

Sunday Soiree
Yes, it's a mixed bag (just like it should be) :)
Brand new thingys from the likes of Portishead and REM, mixed with the recent, dare I say, fabulosity of Fabienne Delsol, and the Raveonettes, some classically epic Cockney Rebel and a bizarre minute or so with the Portsmouth Sinfonia.
And much more.
Ooh, do check in if you can - www.rti.fm, at 8pm (UK time), and I'll try and keep you occupied for 2 hours. It's also on Sky 0195 simultaneously, too.
Huge thanks to those who have voted for either me / or The Album Zone, and if you haven't, please please do - it means a lot to us - at www.rti.fm, near the top right of the page, there's a little voting thing. Make us your choice !
Thank you.
Meanwhile - more newies on our Pod later tonight too !

Anniversaries
Hi Zoners,
the quickest of the quickest update today, primarily because of the date.
Or, 'anniverary', would be more precise.
Not that we're particularly prone to celebrating these, depending what they are, but I thought it worth mentioning that it was 17 years ago on this very day, April 10th 1991, when a certain Scotsmans dulcet tones were first heard on the European and World airwaves.
Ahem, wonder who that could be ?
.
To celebrate this fact, the aforementioned Celt decided, today, to take the plunge, and go out and secure 2 new baby members to add to the community here at AZ Towers.
Wish us luck with them, as we all know what happened last time.
.
Welcome to our AZ World, to The Sphinx, and Mona Lisa.
.
If you're reading this via our Official Blog - they are pictured above.
Otherwise, do nip along to http://thealbumzone.blogspot.com, to check out what on earth we are talking about !

Spoilt for choice !
Hi Zoners,
it's all action on the Pod front. Normally, when we have a large load of new AZ Programmes at hand, we drip feed them to you (just in case you overdose, you understand).
Not so this time. We're going for it, and it's up to you whether you can take it.
It was time to do a major rearrangement of Pod Programmes, therefore, since the weekend, there are no fewer than 6 (yes !, there are Six !, count 'em !) brand new Album Zone Programmes up on our Pod, from Richard Bismarck, Zoe, Andy Miles, Gil Legine, Barry De Foyle, and Johnny Reece.
Many of these shows are exclusively there first, before being aired via our other outlets.
.
So, go for it !
.
They are located at :
http://www.4shared.com/dir/391612/be81ca22/sharing.html
.
Meanwhile, just the other day, I arranged all the forthcoming Programme Schedules, for April and May 2008. As this was only on our Blog for a day or two and you may have missed it, it's repeated for you below.

Shows and snow ! 6th April 2008
Happy weekend to all !
Bit of a shock when I (eventually) opened the curtains this morning, to find that about 5 inches of snow fell on old London town during the night.
What's going on ? So much for global warming. It doesn't seem to be sticking around though.
Now esconced in the Studio, editing to do, and a few thoughts on tonights Show.
I love it when I find an artist that I seem to have missed, and the music is just so damn brilliant that I have to have everything they have released, all at once.
It's something that doesn't happen often, but it has with Fabienne Delsol.
After airing a couple of tracks last time out, I've taken a step back just a few years further in her career, when she fronted a Band called The Bristols, and will be playing 2 tracks from them tonight.
Hoping, hoping, hoping, that some gigs may be in the offing from Fabienne, who is now solo. It would be so good to see some of those songs done 'Live'. No news on that as yet though.
Another find, courtesy of my Album Zone colleague Zoe, is Sophie Kay, who, no doubt, you will be hearing in future Shows.
Tonight though, as well as Fabienne/The Bristols, there's a fab track from VNV Nation, really haunting this one. A newie from the B52s, a vintage French trip with Christine Pilzer, some superb Alex Harvey, and a look too at a real landmark Album, with a fascinating story behind it, from Marvin Gaye.
Way back, when Marvin was going through a painful divorce, the judge ordered that his wife/ex-wife, as part of the settlement, was to receive ALL royalties from his next Album. It makes for fascinating listening now. 'Beautifully painful', is how I'd describe it.
So, 2 tracks from that tonight, the melancholy 'I Met A Little Girl' which describes their romantic meeting early on, and later, the bitter 'Is That Enough'. The Album, is rather tellingly called 'Here, My Dear'.
Expect to hear other favourites too, including the very first Single from a 17 year old Marc Bolan, in 1965.
Hoping you may give it a listen - and if you don't, catch up with it all later on the Album Zone Pod, will you ?
Finally, a huge thank you to those who have voted for us in the RTI Poll.
It takes just seconds to do, and it really is appreciated.
Please keep it up !
Simply go to www.rti.fm, and you'll see, top right, (once the page loads !), a little voting thing. A vote here and there for 'Johnny Reece / Album Zone' wouldn't go amiss.
Love ya forever if you do !
I hope you like the Show, if you manage to tune in.
It's tonight at 8pm (UK time), around the world via www.rti.fm, and also on Sly Channel 0195 on Satellite, if you have that.
Have a great Sunday (ermm, hopefully with no snow).

Back, but hopefully not with a bang
So ! Back we are, with full power, after a rather interesting few days, firstly with no power for about 24 hours, then it was back, then gone, then back, then gone... and now it's back.
Let's hope it stays that way !
It really is rather difficult to run a Studio and Radio Station without power, you know...
.
On to this weekends shenanigans, and Barry De Foyle returns on Saturday night, to RTI.
9pm it is, UK time, and, you know where to go by now, don't you ?
It's http://www.rti.fm if you don't mind, or, Sky Channel 0195 if you're that sort.
Expect to hear the likes of Andy Mackay, the Gigolo Aunts, Moondog, and much, much more...
This show will also be added to our Pod, on Sunday.
.
Sunday night, and Johnny Reece is back in the chair, at 8pm, once again via RTI and Sky.
For the pleasure of your ears, expect VNV Nation, The Bristols, Marvin Gaye, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, oh, and more than likely, a few stories, and a dollop or two of music trivia too ! This will also be added to our Pod, on Sunday evening.
Be there, ok ?
.
For all current Album Zone Programming, with constant updating of Programmes (at least twice a week...) our Pod is located at :
http://www.4shared.com/dir/391612/be81ca22/sharing.html
.
New AZ Shows on the way too, which will appear on the Pod shortly, from Andy Miles, and Gil Legine. Tonight, Friday, we are welcoming Zoe back here to AZ Towers, so there's yet another newie for you to look forward to, appearing on our Pod very soon.
Shortly, we will also have the return to the AZ airwaves, of Simon G.
Great to have him back !
.
So, have you voted for us ?
Oh, please do. It's just for fun, so they say, but we want to do well.
Just go to http://www.rti.fm, and you'll see a little voting thing near the top right of the page.
Tick the box for 'Johnny Reece/Album Zone', and click 'Vote'.
We'll love you forever, if you do.
Thank you !
.
I'll be back midweek, with some advance Album Zone Programme Schedules for you.
Meanwhile, don't forget we are also aired via Radio Seagull, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, 6pm each night, via http://www.radioseagull.com.

Power failure at AZ Towers
Hi Zoneheads...
oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.
This is a first.
A bulletin update from an internet cafe !
Complete and total power failure of the building housing AZ towers, a real burnout of the main power boxes.
Not a thing we can do, until later.
So, please excuse the lack of updates to Pods, and suchlike.
We should know later if this will just be a 24 hour thing, or (gulp) a lot longer. Until then, all PCs and the Main Studio itself, are down.
What a strange place a Radio Studio is, when it's silent !
Happily, all shows for this coming weekend (to RTI) and next week (to Radio Seagull) had already been transferred and lined up, just the day before.
Phew !
Hopefully, back soon... we'll keep you informed.
