Hey Zoneheads, what's been happening ?Apologies for the few days absence - a few days away from AZ Towers on other projects has been the name of the game. So, what's up and coming ? Well, a few changes afoot, I feel. Firstly, we are but a couple of weeks away from a new Presenter making his debut on the Zone, one Barry De Foyle.Furthermore, two more new recruits are being considered - nothing decided yet - one guy, one girl, and we'll see how all that works out over the next week or so. Updating not only the Music, but the Personnel too, is all important in the Zone World. Watch this space for further details. As for the Pod, that will change this coming weekend too, with not only new AZ Programmes, but a range of 'Vintage' for your delectation too. You know where to find it...This weekend ?Well, I'll be back with you for 2 days of Playlists. On Saturday I will appear magically here, to let you know the playlist of that nights Katrine Show, her 3rd for The Album Zone. And, on Sunday, I will furnish you with the full playlist of that nights Johnny Reece Show.Oh, and I may just give you some gossip. Maybe. Maybe not. Thanks, as ever, for your support.Steve Lloyd PR The Album ZoneBlog : thealbumzone.blogspot.comE-mail : thealbumzone@yahoo.co.uk24 hour Music : www.live365.com/stations/albumzone2001 Scottish Stories : www.myspace.com/johnnyreece

Well well well Kiddies, a good day to you all.We here at AZ Towers trust you are well. What have we been up to for the last 4 days ? I'll tell you, we have been knee deep in computer parts and studio bits, lots to update and change around. All quite dull really as we are not particularly technical, we just want the damn things to work. With this in mind, whilst all that was going on, surrounded by very strange pieces of metal and things which I wouldn't know where to put back, and seeing various people crawling around under studio desks and using the word "testing"! a lot, I have busied myself arranging the Programme Schedules upfront, for our various broadcasting outlets. There has been many late nights this week, in fact AZ Towers had become quite a Hotel over the past few days, with all the work going on. This brought up an interesting thing (well, not really, but I'm going to mention it anyway) and that was the various peoples choice of breakfast in the mornings before we set about ripping things apart again.I, myself, like some Toast and Cereal. And Orange Juice. And maybe Coffee. The Engineer, who is called Mike, wanted industrial strength Black Coffee, and nothing else.Johnny wanted Tea and Cigarettes. Now, come on, that's quite Rock n' Roll. Either that, or Coffee and Cigarettes, which is even more so.However, this turned into a fully fledged discussion whilst we pretended to fix things, where it was revealed that Johnny hated Cereal with a vengeance. This obviously got to him, as he suddenly remembered, as a child, his liking for Sugar Puffs. I'm sure they have various names in different parts of the world (Honey Puffs, Sugar Smacks, whatever) but it did suddenly strike a chord, and over the next few days our Scottish Leader fought with his conscience and attempted to fight the sudden craving of a childhood memory. He gave in, after 3 days, at last, yesterday. We have all been eating Sugar Puffs since. They are magnificent. What has this got to do with radio ? Nothing.------------------------------------Ok, here goes, Schedules a go-go, where we are, and with whom, on our various outlets over the next few weeks... now pay attention, and sit up at the back :------------------------------------Saturday Nights : RTI (www.rti.fm) and Sky Satellite 0195, and 1350 AM throughout Central Europe : at 21.00 hrs (UK time) :26th August : Zoe Street2nd September : Katrine9th September : Johnny Reece and Andy Miles16th September : Rich Phoenix23rd September : Barry De Foyle30th September : Katrine7th October : Zoe Street----------------------------Sunday Nights : RTI (www.rti.fm) and Sky Satellite 0195 and 1350 AM throughout Central Europe : at 20.00 hrs (UK time) :The Johnny Reece Show (every Sunday evening).(Please note - this Sunday, 27th Aug, is a repeat of 20th Aug, due to all our Studio work at AZ Towers this week, not to mention the Sugar Puffs).-----------------------------Wednesday Nights : Radio Seagull (radioseagull.nl) and Radio Waddenzee (1602AM, Netherlands) for 6 hours (3 x Album Zone Programmes, back to back) at 18.00 - 00.00 hrs (UK time) :Weds 30th August : Johnny Reece & Andy Miles, Katrine, Johnny ReeceWeds 6th September : Katrine, Zoe Street, Johnny ReeceWeds 13th September : Zoe Street, Andy Miles, Johnny ReeceWeds 20th September : Richard Bismarck, Rich Phoenix, Johnny ReeceWeds 27th September : Barry De Foyle, Zoe Street, Johnny Reece-------------------------------------Our Pod :Currently on the Pod, are brand new AZ Programmes from :Rich Phoenix, Johnny Reece & Andy Miles (co-hosted), Zoe Street, Johnny Reece, Katrine, and Andy Miles.More to follow shortly, with our usual mix of 'Vintage' goodies too...-------------------------------------Whew ! Well mes ami, quite a lot to be going on with today.
Firstly though, a quick note to tell you that due to a combination of Holidays, other work, weekends away, oh, all sorts of things, this will be the last Blog entry until Monday or Tuesday next week (14th/15th August). Therefore, we have all sorts of things happening in advance. Like what ?, we hear you say. Well...
The Leafy Glades : Yes, AZ Studio 2 has been working overtime this week, as Johnny Reece nipped down to rural Hampshire to our second Studio, run by Andy Miles. And what a fine time was had by all. It did help that some fine Bordeaux was sunk along the way, but you'd expect that, wouldn't you ?
The upshot was, that a joint Programme was done. Now, this isn't due, officially, to be aired until 9th September via RTI, and 13th & 20th via Seagull, but hey, what the hell. As most of us are taking a break for a few days, we thought we'd air it early, via our Pod. You'll find it there tonight !
Expect many reminiscences of Radio 6, and of former shows done for various Satellite Stations. It was such fun. More joint shows are planned too, very shortly...Up and coming : A new Programme from Katrine is in the making, and in a couple of weeks, we also welcome back Rich Phoenix, with a series of shows for us. Norwegian Jaunt : Back soon (we presume !) is Richard Bismarck, currently taking time off in the Fjords.
Tales from this to come shortly, we are assured, with some more new Scandinavian music too. Gilster, where art thou ?
Now, where's that Gil Legine gone ? He's had a holiday or two recently, so we have sent out the tracker dogs to haul him in, and bring him back into line.
------------------------------------- This weekends Album Zone Broadcasts :This Saturday night via RTI (www.rti.fm) and on Sky 0195, Andy Miles returns. The Programme will air at 21.00 hours, UK time. This Sunday night, Johnny Reece is in his usual slot, 20.00 hrs, via RTI and Sky.As we're giving the Studio here at AZ Towers a rest this weekend, this too will be on our Pod early. And, the Playlist for this Sundays 'Reecey Soiree' is below... -----------------------------------------Johnny Reece Show : 13 Aug 2006 :The Cure - The Perfect GirlThe Experimental Pop Band - Punk Rock ClassicJohn's Children - DesdemonaMasso Dietum - Smells Like Teen SpiritDepeche Mode - StrippedWorld Party - Another 1000 YearsAztec Camera - Back Door To HeavenPerry Blake - The Hunchback Of San FranciscoThe Pixies - Monkey Gone To HeavenRoxy Music - Would You Believe ?Crosby, Stills & Nash - GuinnevereT.A.T.U. - StarsJona Lewie - (You'll Always Find Me In The) Kitchen At PartiesEdwyn Collins - The BeatlesSadistic Mika Band - Hi ! Now, let me think. The great romances ? Oh, Burton and Taylor, Bogart and Bacall, Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara, Reecey and Posh.Oh, ok then, maybe not, but we are pleased to give you an update concerning our very own Posh Bird (don't blame me - Johnny Reece gave her this name immediately on meeting her !). A lot of you will remember the 'Reecey and Posh' radio shows on Radio Caroline, back in 1998, from the good ship Ross Revenge. Johnny had met Laura (ermm, that's her real name) just days earlier, at a party at another Radio Station.A few joint shows together later, and the job offers came in. Really !Laura was very pleased, but Johnny less so. Whilst Laura wanted to take up the offered Breakfast spot at a distant Station, Johnny was less than enthusiastic, with thoughts of getting up at 3am and pretending to enthuse about Robbie Williams records giving him all sorts of nightmares. The stalemate ensued, and our erstwhile Romeo and Juliet were cruelly parted, and so the story ended. Well, not quite.A zillion Album Zone Jingles and Promos and Voiceovers later (many of which you can still hear now, voiced by Posh, ermm, Laura) and she ended up at Classic Gold, and now hosts her own afternoon show at BBC Radio Oxford. 'Beautiful Posh' as Johnny still refers to her (ah, ain't that sweet ?) turns up on TV this coming Sunday, in a rather different role.Yes, Poshbaby and her dog Tinkerbell are on the Pets Prize thingummy-go-round. Tinkerbell (pictured above right with Laura) takes part in the new Channel 4 Series 'Britain's Top Dog' this Sunday afternoon, with Laura in tow (almost literally). We wish them all the best. Poshbaby is special to us all at the Zone, and we hope to hear her on our airwaves again one day. Good luck Posh ! xxSteve Lloyd PR The Album Zone
